No, nobody knew exactly what was going on. When we get attacked under Obama he’s just gonna sit there munching on his bucket of chicken before he does anything, you can count on that.

The Scary Movie series didn’t treat him well.

His wrong move came much earlier than that, when he placed control of the Executive Branch of our government in the hands of a cabal who wanted to wage war in the Middle East.

The problem wasn’t that he kept reading children’s books. The problem was that he sat there with a deer-in-headlights look on his face, frozen, unable to decide what to do. It would have been okay for him to finish that book, say “thanks, kids, but I have to go now.:” But he didn’t.

It was the most exciting and most intellectual book Bush had ever read. You’re mean to think about taking it away from him.

He was wrong to not to pay attention to the August 2001 Intelligence report with the headline “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the US”.

*That’s* what he should have kept reading. Unfortunately, he was on one of his 77 vacations.

Yes, since later in his Presidency he showed similar trends. Not responding quickly and responsibly with Katrina, or Economical Problems.

    Hypothetically…….let’s assume 9/11 was a coverup…NOT an inside job…..but a coverup.

Perhaps Bush knew *something* was going to happen (meaning he didn’t plan and execute the details)…..but when it actually happened it took a few minutes to digest.

He should be tried for war crimes because he finished reading a book to a group of kids right? Is’nt that what your trying to get at?

That was the look of a man sitting in his own waste. That’s the best that he could do.

When he was first informed, it was, at the time, considered an accident. No one really knew that there was a second plane en route to New York, or the Pentagon, and we will never know the target of the fourth plane. What would have wanted him to do? Run screaming around the classroom, “oh my God, there’s been an accident, panic, kids, panic!”. Jeez, there is just no pleasing some people.

    The book was upside down.

My idea about Bush is that he never really was in control. He was picked to be president by a ‘cabal’ of party and corporate movers and shakers. They took advantage of his name recognition, they lined up all the money behind him, and from that point on he was the presumptive candidate. They wanted someone who would take orders, read what they put in front of him, and Bush was the perfect man for that because he had no political ideas or agenda of his own. This is why Bush was never able to do an unscripted interview. He couldn’t explain his own positions and opinions in his own words, he had to be briefed and have 3×5 cards to read from.

So on that day, when Andy Card told him our nation was under attack, he didn’t do anything. He kept on doing what he was doing. He was waiting for someone to tell him what he was supposed to do!

This is reinforced by what he did the rest of the day. They bundled him onto Air Force One and flew him randomly around the country for the rest of the day. Bush actually said this wasn’t his decision, he didn’t have anything to say about it, the Secret Service took over to protect him. But you know a REAL president, Bill Clinton or even his own dad, would have beat it back to Washington to be in charge, or at least look like he was in charge.

Very interesting comments. But, Angela, that look you saw was probably on most every Americans face at the same time. Its called shock. Something that you thought would never again happen in America after Pearl Harbor, we receive an attack on our homeland. Should he have jumped straight up and started demanding answers in front of all the children? I am glad he thought before he reacted. Being too quick to push that “button” may be the greatest mistake ever made.

I don’t like Bush, but at the same time what else was he supposed to do?

I don’t think spending 7 more minutes finishing the book somehow led to greater death and destruction. It’s not like he was going to leave the school and immediatly run to New York and play hero.

I mean, sure, that unresponsive and clueless trend was repeated later in his presidency, but in those times (like Katrina) he could have actually done something. There wasn’t anything HE could have done during 9/11 that local authorities, police and firefighters weren’t already doing.

  16. Pythagoras on February 2, 2012 at 6:48 pm

The honest answer; an irrelevant move.

Whether or not he finished the book, the outcome of events of that day would have remained the same, two planes in the WTC, one in the Pentagon, and one crashing in Pennsylvania.

I have no issue with him finishing the book. He probably didn’t wake up that day saying, “Well, if terrorists slam planes into American landmarks, this is what I’ll do.”. Finishing the book probably allowed him a few minutes to collect his thoughts and exit gracefully.

Can U say Dereliction of DUTY?
The words “AMERICA is under attack”
deliver a message that is unmistakable!

The Commander in Chief has a JOB to do, he did NOT get up and go do his job! WHY?

The event that prompted Andrew Card to say those words to Bush, happened more than half an hour in advance of the hit to the PENTAGON, and yet not only no intercept, but no clear picture of “FLT77″ exists. I find that VERY strange!

    My question still stands
WHY did the worlds greatest military power FAIL to defend even its own HQ?

We had more than half an hours notice, the WTC towers had been hit for the SECOND time, and our Military was NOT on the job with tactical aircraft flying patrol over this nations CAPITAL?

and they cite the drills going on that morning as a EXCUSE why ….
LAME! our military is capable of ending a drill and getting on with the business of protecting the U.S.A. only whoever was in charge of said drills WANTED the PENTAGON to be hit!

    Bust BUSH & CHENEY!

no not the wrong move. and for those who said he couldn’t decide what to do about the attacks i got a question do u know that we’re in a war and why we’re in that war? we are in the war because the people who committed 9/11 and those who supported them are a threat to america. they want to kill anyone thats in america. we are in the war because the killed many americas just for being americans. and yes although bush did know something was going to happen. they had no idea what, where and when. im pretty sure there were several attempts made that were stopped. remember to stop an attack u have to be right 100% of the time but to commit an attack u only have to be right once.

  19. Bill G on February 2, 2012 at 9:12 pm

No He should have run out of the room screaming “They’re coming to kill us all!”

This is one of the most ridiculous criticisms leveled against him

edit: To the guy whining about the daily briefing here it is:
    http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.memo/
It is about half a page of very general information and says absolutely nothing about the actual events of 9-11

Stop listening to the idiotic Fahrenheit 9/11 and read the actual report and ask yourself what action it would have led you to take

Deer caught in headlights reaction…so no, not a good way to show leadership…

  21. slither37 on February 2, 2012 at 10:04 pm

No, the liberals would have had him up running around and screaming and encouraging others to panic.

I guess obama and biden already have this planned out. I assume that since they KNOW that an attack is coming, that they also know WHEN it will happen.

  22. hog b on February 2, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Think about it, don’t listen to other opinions, ask yourself if this would be expected to happen when it appeared to everybody that the country was under attack.

His visit was well publicized in advance, why would his guards think that there wasn’t a chance the President was also a target.

This clip suggests he knew in advance what was going on, either that or he’s lying.
