Question by PF32: What are your best time management tips as a mom of young kids? Esp. SAHM & those doing some work from home?

Answer by Snowbarbie
I like to plan dinner early in the day – I use the slow-cooker a lot, even when I am home, as I can put the meat and vegetables in there, plug it in, then forget it – and we have a home cooked meal every night so that saves money!
Also, before I ever leave the house, I like to make sure that the dish washer is running and I put a load in the washing machine – in my mind – there is work being done, even when I’m not home!

I wake up an hour before my kids and husband wake up so I can get things done. I wake up, shower, make breakfast, pack my husbands lunch and unload the dishwasher. As for everything throughout the day I clean as I go. If we get toys out we put them away when we’re done playing. If we make a mess at lunch time we clean up right away. As long as you don’t procrastinate things can be done very easily. We don’t have any activities out side of the home yet like sports or anything, I’m sure once we get to that stage in our life it will be more difficult.
Grocery shop on the weekends, or whenever your SO is there. Shopping with a little one makes it difficult and takes much longer. Prepare your lunch the night before or while LO is taking their morning nap. I clean my entire house while my little lady is napping. Folding clothes or other small jobs can be made into a game. My 8 month old loves to help me pull clothes out of the dryer. Take showers with the LO, save time and water!
Good Luck!
