I know that many libraries are using E books now, and you “check out” the book and have access to the download for two weeks or whatever. So the question of terminating a readers right to use the file is not out of the question. Used bookstores (and in store credit for recirculating your books into the inventory) are a long standing institution in the reading world. So I wonder if any e-book traders are doing this too.

No. You haven’t actually purchased anything except 0s-and-1s. Unlike a physical book, which is considered “tangible” property, with an ebook you have solely purchased a digital (“virtual”, if you will” copy of the text. In truth, there is nothing to re-sell that doesn’t already exist in any original purchaser’s hand. (And selling the “text” your purchased is a violation of the copyright laws.)

No. In general ebooks are a bit cheaper than hardcover books and this is in part to make up for things like this and the inability to really share books.

I’m sorry, but there is no such thing.

Not sure if it helps, but I love my Kindle device very much. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

I’m afraid not. But there are some websites like these two, where you can find more than ten thousand free books for the Kindle:

    http://manybooks.net/

I also suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is a book lover as well, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

    Hope this helps.
