Question by Marcus C: Can anything be done if you take money out of a structured settlement and you don’t receive the money on time?
I have a structured settlement and I decided to take money out through JG Wentworth. The commercials make it sound like such a reputable and trustworthy business. I was told the whole process would take about 45 days so I made plans expecting the money around that time. It has been 3 weeks over the 45 days now and everytime I call they apoligize and promise me that it will be in my account in another day or two. This service is not free and is costing me alot of money do I have any options what can I do?

Check the contract you signed with them regarding what they say about their payment schedule to you. Are they allowed a certain grace period between the date they say they’ll send it and actually can. To me 45 days is excessive.

I use to work in structured settlement industry and I can tell you that companies like this aren’t as great as they sound in their ads. They literally pay you only pennies on the dollar for your annuity benefits, but then receive the full $ amount of your annuity. If you’re be charged on top of that then you are definitely loosing out.
