We live in a country that is democratic in a world that is interdependent. Through separation and division of labor we have found more efficient means of survival as a species. For a person to be a good citizen and to thrive in this type of society they must partake in the give and take process (working and purchasing of goods). In order to be a good citizen you must respect the idea that people are different and have different things that they are good at. if people were only taught math our world would be full of engineers and math magicians but we would have no doctors or musicians. Everyone must have the chance to learn a variety of skills, because even if one area of study is not their favorite, it might be someone else’s and you must appreciate that aspect in order to compete and thrive in an ever evolving global community.

You can’t make it through your day without using inductive logic… and philosophy helps you better use this logic. Art, literature and music help improve creativity, which helps further a civilization. History and cultures helps us better understand ourselves and past mistakes, as well as others and their mistakes… so as to help improve our nation, and government helps us understand how our nation works.
