Business management and accounting.
Either try a community college and take some business management courses, or if you are looking to get a 4-year degree, then get it in Business.
heather,
visit the library , ask the librarian for books on small business start ups. find a field you like to start. work in it . intern in it.
read ‘what colour is your parachute’
’48 days to work you love’
‘e-myth’ ‘richest man in babylon’
‘rich dad poor dad’ ‘think and grow rich , blacks choice’ ‘total money make over’ and a bout a dozen other books.
understand going to a 4 year college will teach you how to work for someone else. not be a business person. 2 year colleges have classes in continuing educ for small business thats where you need to look. don’t invest 4 years and 20-40,000$ to work for some one.
Accounting for sure. Both financial and managerial. Pretty much mandatory if you want to have any kind of grip on the financial success of your company. A lot of small business failures occur because the operation runs out of money, often not projecting the kind of cashflows needed to sustain. I’ve consulted on many small businesses and frequently find an abundance of goofy ways people calculate things that led them to fail. By then it’s too late. Basic accounting teaches you to be aware of this stuff from day one.
Other than accounting, all other areas are debatable whether being worthwhile or not, largely depending on what type of company you are.
