If not, then who is your competition. If you were an employer and had the opportunity of hiring someone with an AS or someone who left MIT after two years — who would you pick?
Do you see the problem with an AS? You are less qualified than a college dropout.
Get the AS, then go on to a good state school. It will improve your life.
