As I approach my 10th decade, I am afraid you have to forget IT for the time being. In my day it was the 3 Rs, reading, riting, rithmetic. Today it is reading and IT. Just means to an end. What was your favourite subject at school? To get paid is one thing but to be happy in your work is essential. The first question has to be people or things. Things don’t answer back!!

It depends largely on the career path you want to follow. If you like the hardcore tech stuff, a master’s degree in programming or engineering is for you. However, if your job is in the IT business and you want to further your career there, I would suggest a certificate in Project Management. The university where I work in has Technology Management. If I understand these courses correctly (I’m taking a different master’s degree) they’re like the MBA for IT.
