What could be the consequences if a company’s information technology function does not align its strategy with the company’s overall company vision?

It wastes time and money doing things that the company does not needs or want.
The company also misses opportunities that it could have met with the right IT Support.

Way to vague a question -
No details – no good answers
however IT changes take a lot of money and a lot of planning and time. Do you know for a fact the IT section is not planning to comply? And to what vision?? Vision statements tend to be as clear as tax information. Coveralls – feel good stuff.
Still 6 months to 2 years to realign a IT dept and its functions is a norm. Worse case company goes bust because some manager makes double speak and buzzword speeches that no one knows what the heck he wants.
