Question by : Is Information Technology (specializing in auditing) a good degree to get? I’m going to major in it?
Hi!
Sorry, I asked this before, but nobody was answering.
My school has a degree in Information Technology, where you can specialize in Auditing & Assurance. I just wanted to know if this was a stable degree to have in this economy? Specifically, in Canada.
Also, if anybody can explain what auditors DO, that would be great!

I.T. is a good industry to get into right now regardless of what your specialty is.
I have done I.T. for a long time, and it changes constantly. You have to be willing to accept that you will be constantly having to go back to school to prove you know your stuff. I don’t know about the market in CA, but it’s a little rough here in OH.
It’s best if you have a specialty, but you want to stay as diverse as you can.
Lots of side work if you want it, and know how to market yourself.
You also have to be good with customer service, and willing to work your way through the ranks.
Late nights and 24/7 on call stuff.
