do what i did fingers on. greatest issue to do is borrow chiltons from your neighborhood library. they tell you step by action how to fix the automobile and they occur in the model and make of the car

You can probably sign up for a basic auto repair class at a community college that has an auto repair program. One class should be pretty cheap and cover a fair amount.
But definitely get the repair manual for your car and start looking through it.

i don’t know about you
but engineering and cars+bikes is something i know a lot about. at first i read loads of books, went to some classes for mechanics.being an only girl there never helped. now i am studding to be an engineer. i newer had much money, but always had a will.

The best thing to do is buy a chilton manual(a vehicle specific manual) from autozone or any parts store for YOUR car. Start working on it and reading. When you have a question look on the Internet for information and ask friends. You can also subscribe to magazines like muscle mustangs and hot rod. These have a lot of “how to’s”. Just jump into projects, get some hands on experience, read a lot, and most of all have fun. Good luck.
I felt the same way. So I joined the Marine Corps. Got the training I wanted and a job as well. From my experience, hands on training is the only way to really understand. Reading gives you good knowledge, but when it comes to applying what you know, you can get lost pretty quick. I’m not saying run out to a military recruiter, but what ever you do, to get the best skills, you will have to get in there and get dirty. Start with minor work on your vehicle–the chiltons manuals are a must–oil changes, tune ups etc. Try helping friends out when ever they have a car problem. Glad to know I’m not the only girl who thinks being a mech is great. Good luck!
The only real way to learn is hands on. What you can do is go to a community college and take a few classes. Also try and get a job in a repair shop even if its only cahnging oil for a while. That way during the slow times you can try and spend time with the mechanics and give them anytype of help you can. you may be taking wheels of for the mechanic so he can due a brake inspection and before you know you are doing the brake inspections while he does other work and just keep trying to get in there. Also you can get a job as a service writer and from reading what the mechanics always right on the work order after checking a vehicle out you start see what types of vehicles always have the same symptons and problems constantly.
find an employer that will start you at the bottom and if the profession is for you .then u will learn and grow
